BELLEVUE – The Bellevue business community understands that an excellent education supports our future workforce. To acknowledge the efforts of outstanding students, the Bellevue Chamber Foundation, with support from Washington Federal, Legacy Sponsor of the Bellevue Chamber’s 2014 Spirit of Bellevue Run/Walk and other community partners, has awarded three $1,500 scholarships to Bellevue School District graduating seniors. Awards were presented at the Bellevue Chamber Business Lunch on July 16.

  • Lucas  Fiebig, Sammamish High School, Washington Federal Scholarship. Lucas plans to attend the University of Washington while majoring in the area of life sciences and become a pediatric anesthesiologist. As an active leader in his school, he participated in his National Honor Society chapter, was co-captain of the varsity swim team, and a Link Crew leader. In addition, he was an intern and leader at the University of Washington DO-IT Summer program which supports High School students with disabilities.

  • Karthik Meiyappan, Interlake High School, KeyBank Scholarship. Karthik will attend the University of Miami with a provisional acceptance to the Miller School of Medicine. He plans to pursue a degree in the medical field to become a physician. Karthik has shown to be a leader at school by becoming the vice-president of his Model United Nations, a participant in multiple honor societies, and his involvement in many other clubs such as DECA and Indian Cultural Club.

  • Griffin Paulson, Sammamish High School, Ralph James Family Memorial Scholarship. Griffin will attend the University of Washington with hopes to dual major in Business Administration and Industrial Engineering. From the young age of 12 Griffin knew he wanted to pursue business, which later inspired him to start a DECA chapter at his school. The following year, his team attended and competed at internationals in Orlando.
