Bellevue Chamber Foundation Announces M. Gail Ryder Scholarship Established for Entrepreneurial Bellevue Students
BELLEVUE – The Bellevue business community understands that an excellent education supports our future workforce. The Bellevue Chamber Foundation was established in 1992 to fund education programs. The Foundation is pleased to announce a new annual scholarship, The M. Gail Ryder Scholarship, sponsored by Inslee Best.

The scholarship is a legacy gift to honor and to celebrate the decades of contributions Gail Ryder has made to the business community. “Inslee Best has been in existence for 47 years, and Gail with 44 years of service, is our longest tenured attorney,” said David Lawyer, Bellevue Chamber Legal Counsel and current Inslee Best president. “Because Gail is no ordinary member of Inslee Best, we wanted his send off into retirement to be no ordinary thing. To establish a scholarship in his honor is a fitting tribute given Gail’s many years giving legal advice and guidance to help grow and nurture businesses on to success.”
Starting in the spring of 2017, the M. Gail Ryder Scholarship will award $2000 annually to a local high school senior with a high degree of entrepreneurialism planning to further their education and with aspirations to start their own business or help businesses grow. “Ideally, some day in the future, scholarship recipients will own or manage the kinds of businesses that Gail Ryder counseled and represented during his years of practice of law,” Lawyer said.
Gail Ryder learned of the legacy gift at his recent retirement party and said of the named scholarship, “this is a tremendous honor which reflects the commitment of Inslee, Best, Doezie & Ryder and the Bellevue Chamber of Commerce to education and business growth in the Bellevue community.”
As the Bellevue Chamber works to forge strategic alliances among the education and business communities, awarding college scholarships to deserving students through the Foundation helps further that mission. “We are pleased and honored that Inslee Best has established this new scholarship in the name of someone who has meant so much to the Bellevue Chamber organization,” said Betty Nokes Capestany, Bellevue Chamber President & CEO. “Through our years of awarding scholarships, we’ve met many Bellevue School District graduates that are off the charts and are entrepreneurial by nature. Gail’s scholarship will be in good hands and the sky is the limit for these students!”
