the Bellevue Library will be closed September 4-9 with limited patron services, which are as follows:

  • Holds can be picked up 10 am - 7 pm daily from the staff door at the west side of the building.
  • Staff will continue to answer Bellevue Library phones and email during the hours of 10 am - 7 pm daily.
  • All KCLS libraries will close on Monday, September 3 in observance of Labor Day so Sunday, September 2 will be the last day of regular hours and service before the construction closure begins.
  •  Patrons will be able to access our WI-FI from outside of the building during the closure.

Starting on September 10 and ending on October 31 or in early November:

  • The first floor of the library will partially close.
  • Study rooms on the first floor will not be available. Visit our Find a Location page—on to find other nearby libraries with study or conference rooms.
  • There will be no access to the following collections:
    • Fiction
    • Teen fiction
    • Teen classics
    • Teen graphic novels
    • World languages
    • DVDs
    • CDs 

The renovation will include the following:

3rd Floor

-Express elevator from garage to 3rd floor
-New story time room with glass partition
-New restroom
-New office for children's librarian
-Dedicated self-checkout stations
-New furniture

1st Floor

-Creating "flexible" meeting rooms. These will be located in the area where the children's story time used to be held. More information on these rooms and their purpose is forthcoming.
-Improved sightlines by reducing stack height
-Additional power throughout 1st floor
-New furniture
-New carpet
