Outstanding businesses on the Eastside that uphold a strong commitment to quality, community and innovation were recognized at the 29th Annual Bellevue Chamber of Commerce Eastside Business Awards reception and ceremony on March 29.

“Congratulations to all the nominees and especially the well deserving winners. Selecting this year’s award recipients was no easy task for the judges,” said Bellevue Chamber Board Chair, Jim Hill, with The Bellevue Collection. “With the amazing talent and diversity represented by our nominees, it’s clear the Eastside is well positioned to continue to lead and foster the region’s technology growth and innovation with current and future generations.”

2018 Eastside Business Award Winners Eastside

Business of the Year: BitTitan, Bellevue, WA; Migration Software and IT Services Delivery Platform

Recognized for their sustained superior performance as an established Eastside business of over 100 employees, revenue growth exceeding $10 million, the strength of the leadership team, adaptability to challenging economic conditions, accomplishments and awards. As well as its history of seizing market opportunities and unique partnerships within the community.

One of the Eastside’s great entrepreneurial start up stories, BitTitan was founded 11 years ago and has grown to over 130 employees in Bellevue. They operate in over 150 countries throughout the world with 6.5 million users served. Founder and CEO Geeman Yip’s vision, BitTitan developed a unique market niche and has released two successful technology products that have been brought to market.

“The strength and caliber of Eastside businesses continues to build, and events like this showcase how dedicated these groups are to innovation and service,” said Yip. “The entire BitTitan team is very grateful to the Chamber for the honor of the 2018 Business of the Year. Our past, present, and future is rooted on the Eastside, and we’re excited to continue our rapid growth alongside others in this community.”

Eastside Small Business of the Year: Seattle Humane, Bellevue, WA; Animal Shelter

Recognized for their superior performance as an Eastside small business of 100 employees or fewer with an established presence in the community, a commitment to workforce excellence, and a demonstrated entrepreneurial spirit.

Seattle Humane was founded in 1897. Over the past century, they’ve experienced impressive growth through many economic cycles and built a community of over 3,500 volunteers. “We are truly honored by this recognition,” said Seattle Humane CEO David Loewe. “This award is a testament to the monumental steps we've made towards growing our organization and transforming the future of animal welfare.”

Seattle Humane’s unique business model has been transformed to incorporate a teaching model in partnership with Washington State University, to help educate the next generation of veterinarians. Their capital campaign raised $30 million in private donations funding a new 57,000 sq./ft. animal shelter and veterinary teaching hospital that opened in December 2017. Their annual pet save rate is over 96%.

Entrepreneurial Spirit – Startup of the Year: Lincoln South Food Hall, Bellevue, WA; Fast Casual Culinary Food Hall

Recognized as a startup business that has launched in the last two years, the concept has a market and/or fills a unique niche and is poised to achieve consistent and significant growth.

Lincoln South Food Hall quickly seized a market opportunity to achieve success. Using data from market research, they created the concept a fast casual and quick dining in an environment that is upscale and fun. They have an innovative infrastructure that offers six quick casual options in the same location without being a commercialized chain-style food court.

President & Founding Partner Elaina Herber said, “On behalf of Ascend Hospitality Group, we are honored to receive the Entrepreneurial Spirit- Startup of the Year award for Lincoln South Food Hall. As Eastside residents, we recognized what the marketplace was missing- namely a food hall that could deliver an affordable, quick serve dining experience with an emphasis on quality, authenticity and regional sourcing. We took a leap of faith to execute our vision, as did the Kemper Development Company. The net result is that the community has fully embraced Lincoln South Food Hall, completely surpassing all of our initial expectations.”

Innovative Product of the Year: Polyverse, Bellevue, WA; Cyber Security Solutions – Polyverse Polymorphic Linux to Eliminate Panic Patching

Recognized for launching a new cutting-edge product, software, service or application that has launched in the last two years.

“We are honored and humbled to win this prestigious award. It further validates the incredible revolution happening in cybersecurity today,” said Polyverse CEO Alexander Gounares. Cyber security attacks have become a major worry for businesses. Polyverse has a proven solution. “Traditional cybersecurity solutions are expensive and complicated to run—and as we see in the near daily reports of major breaches, they quite simply don’t work to hold back sophisticated attackers. With Polyverse’s Moving Target Defense cyber technologies, including our flagship Polymorphic Linux product, we create intrinsic cyber resiliency that defeats even the most sophisticated of attacks,” he said.

Chairman’s Community Pillar Award: Overlake Medical Center, Bellevue, WA; Healthcare

Recognized for long-standing excellence and significant positive economic impact on the community. Overlake Medical Center is a major employer on the Eastside with 3,000 employees and numerous additional companies that support this sector.

“On behalf of our CEO Mike Marsh, our board of directors led by chair Patty Bedient and the nearly 4,000 physicians, staff and volunteers at Overlake Medical Center and Clinics, I am truly honored to have accepted this award recognizing our dedication every single day to improving the health of this community,” said Overlake Medical Center COO Tom DeBord.

Overlake continually focuses on innovations including their recent strategic partnership with the Eastside Health Network. Through all these efforts, they have created a world class health system that has numerous accolades.
