Professional Bio
Karen Doherty is the Northwest Pacific District Manager for WSP USA. As Senior Vice President, she oversees business activities for over 450 staff in six states and Guam. WSP is a global professional service firm specializing in providing technical expertise and strategic advice to clients in the Transport & Infrastructure, Property & Buildings, Environment, Industry & Energy sectors. WSP is passionate about doing purposeful, sustainable work that helps shape communities and the future.
Karen was the 2019-2020 Chair for the Washington American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC). She is a member of the Seattle Chamber’s Community Development Roundtable and also served on the Advisory Board for the Puget Sound Chapter of Women’s Transportation Seminar. A supporter of the Sound Transit 3 infrastructure funding package, Karen was on the steering committee to pass Puget Sound’s largest transit funding package. She has been involved in several regional organizations’ activities to attract more businesses to the Puget Sound. A licensed civil engineer in several states, Karen is a proud graduate of Gonzaga University in Spokane and is a native of Southeastern Washington.
Karen and her husband Pat have one daughter, Megan, who is a Cadet 1st Class (senior) at the United States Air Force Academy. Karen and Pat both hold Board positions in the Academy’s Parents’ Association of Washington State. Karen enjoys triathlons and spends much of her free time with her family training for that sport.
