Professional Bio
Bruce is married to Peggy and has two grown children.
He received his BS in Mechanical Engineering at The University of Michigan in 1979. Since then, Bruce has endowed 4 scholarships for engineering students from Washington studying at Michigan.
In 1983 Bruce founded Spectrum Controls, a manufacturer of industrial automation products sold worldwide. Spectrum Controls has been listed on the INC 5000 list for 8 consecutive years and honored as one of the “Best Places to Work” by Seattle Business Monthly. Spectrum was sold to a publicly traded company in 2021.
In 2025 Bruce helped to form Profitic, a software company that provides strategic insights into product development opportunities.
As active “theater goers” with season subscriptions to many local groups, the Wanta’s also enjoy season tickets to local sports teams and attend a wide variety of live music in the area. Bruce is currently Board Vice President for the nationally acclaimed Village Theatre in Issaquah, Washington. Bruce and Peggy also invest in, and co-produce shows on Broadway and in London.
In 2007 they co-founded the Newport at Newcastle Jazz Gala in support of the Newport HS Band. Since inception it has raised over $250,000 in support of Newport band programs.
Bruce also enjoys traveling, automobile collecting and attending car shows.
