Professional Bio

Dr. Kelly Aramaki is honored and excited to serve as the Superintendent of the Bellevue School District. Dr. Aramaki, a fourth generation Bellevue resident, graduated from Newport High School. He received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Washington, a master’s degree in Elementary Education from Teachers College, Columbia University, and his doctoral degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Washington. Dr. Aramaki started his career in education in Bellevue as a 4th and 5th grade teacher at Newport Heights Elementary. He served as an elementary principal for 10 years, first at Maywood Hills Elementary in the Northshore School District, followed by John Stanford International School and Beacon Hill International School, both in the Seattle Public Schools. As a principal, he received numerous awards including the National Milken Educator Award and the Washington State Elementary Principal of the Year Award. He then served for five years as an Executive Director of Schools in Seattle supervising K-12 schools on Beacon Hill and in the Rainier Valley as well as elementary schools across the city during which he received the Northwest Asian Weekly Visionary Award. In 2018, he returned back home to Bellevue to take on the role of Executive Director of Schools and then Assistant Superintendent before being named as Superintendent in 2023.
