Marla Veliz

I have expertise in both teaching and education administration. I grew up in Seattle, Washington, graduated from the University of Washington with a B.A. in anthropology, and earned a master’s degree in both anthropology and education from the University of Chicago. I hold a Washington State lifetime continuing elementary secondary teaching certificate. I have been a special education administrator at New Horizon School, a small, private, special education school in Renton, since 1995. I manage the daily operations of the school, student/parent concerns, curriculum, instruction, admissions, IEPs, and accreditation and approvals. I successfully led New Horizon School through the transition from in-person to remote learning in March, 2020.
