Professional Bio

I graduated from the Lakeside School in Seattle and organized bicycle races there in the 1960s! I bought a racing bicycle in 1966 with sew up tires. I sculled in a single Pocock Shell as well. In 1967 I started ski mountaineering and cross country including snow camping.

During college I spent winters on the Sun Valley Idaho Pro Patrol and Crystal Mountain Pro Patrol (as a volunteer in avalanche control). After graduation from the UW Business School, I became interested in environmental consulting having been a skier, hiker, bicyclist and single shell sculler. I did volunteer work for the Washington Environmental Council, and consulted to establish the environmental protection position at a major west coast lumber company.

In 1978 I was elected to the REI co-op Board and chaired the Finance and Audit Committees. In 1990 I helped establish the Backcountry Bicycle Trails Club (now Evergreen Mountainbike Alliance) and sought out abandoned railway grades for mountain bicycling. I traveled throughout Washington State as a bicycle advocate. I served on a Washington State bicycle board with Bill Nye as well.

After selling my wine label printing business in 2023, I joined Cascade Bicycle Club, The Mountaineers, Evergreen Mountainbike Alliance. My wife and formed a company charitable foundation and support many non profits including Woodland Park Zoo, Blue Mountain Wildlife Rescue, Spokeswomen Racing and others.

I rejoined Seattle Rotary 4, and I joined the Society of Mechanical Engineers with my purchase of a Prusa MK4 3D printer and attend the TCT 3D print and additive manufacturing trade shows.
