Troy Nehring

With over 2 decades of experience as an attorney, Troy has worked with a variety of small and large businesses at various stages of growth. He demonstrated an entrepreneurial spirit by successfully managing his own practice for close to a decade. Troy then received an offer too good to pass up when he was recruited by a former client that had merged with Baker Tilly, a multinational professional services firm. There, he provided both in-house counsel and outside consulting services to Baker Tilly’s clients.

While working for a large company was an invaluable experience in terms of learning in-house counsel best practices as well as the operational side of different businesses and industries, Troy realized his true desire was advising small businesses and start-ups. He therefore decided to return to private practice, working for Foundry Law Group for several years before launching Cruxterra.

Troy’s experience has provided him with a strong foundation in business transaction and real estate matters. He has considerable experience drafting and reviewing licensing agreements, service agreements, vendor agreements, nondisclosure agreements, commercial leases, as well as employment and independent contractor agreements. His previous work also includes advising small businesses and start-ups on joint-venture, purchase, sale, merger and acquisition deals as well as real estate, leasing, and landlord/tenant matters.

At home, Troy and his wife, Sarah—a high-school chemistry teacher—have their hands full with their twins, Cooper and Emily. They love spending free time as a family exploring the outdoor wonders of Washington.

Service to community is also important to Troy who currently serves on the Board of Trustees of a local non-profit organization and volunteers as a youth soccer coach.

When he can find the time, Troy enjoys running or playing golf with the family.
